DDAF Productions provides compressed downloads of some of its content to speed and ease the delivery of multiple files. The compression we use is called ZIP. There are many different versions of software that will decompress this type of file and it is the default compression used in Windows XP. However there are a couple of third party software compression utilities that offer more features than the basic features provided by Windows.
WinZip: This is one of the most popular of compression software packages available. It is the first one that we used and it is is the software we use to this day. It is very reliable and reasonably priced.
WinRAR: This program can handle zips and a whole lot more. Another high quality piece of software.
7Zip: 7-Zip is a file archiver with a high compression ratio. 7-Zip is open source software. Most of the source code is under the GNU LGPL license. The unRAR code is under a mixed license: GNU LGPL + unRAR restrictions. Check license information here: 7-Zip license.
PKWare SecureZip: PKWARE, Inc is the originator of the ZIP standard. The SecureZip package is free for non-commercial use and
is a very nice program with many features that WinZip does not have. You can check out the feature comparison at the PKWARE website.
