FIRST AND FOREMOST --- FIREWALLS AND PROXY SERVERS MAY PREVENT LOGIN. DISABLE THEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO LOGIN. DO NOT LOGIN MORE THAN SIX TIMES AN HOUR AS IT WILL SUSPEND YOUR ACCOUNT.

1. When I try to login I am redirected back to the 403 Forbidden Page. Why?

This is caused by a suspended account. Accounts can be suspended automatically by the password software when it is accessed from to many different IP addresses, when it is logged into over X number of times in an hour, or other reasons. Sometimes, when a member has been with the site for a while or moves a great deal (travels), an account can be suspended for IP abuse by mistake. If you account is suspended, please contact support@ddafsupport.com and we will look into what may have happened and attempt to get the situation worked out.

Another cause of this problem is someone attempting to gain access and has their IP suspended, it is added to a special file that denies access to not only the members area but also to the login page itself. This is supposed to help slow down brute force attacks and it works. The problem is that sometimes dial-up wannabe hackers use dynamic IP addresses (or others may use spoofed addresses) that may actually be the IP address you are now surfing with and this can cause problems. They get their IP suspended, get a new IP and start hacking again. You however connect to the IP that was suspended and dont know why you can not get to the site. Give it a little time (an hour at most) and check again. The list resets itself.

2. I can not access any of the protected areas of the web sites. I get a forbidden message or no message at all. Why?

Our software will ban your IP from the server and drop the connection during burst attacks. While this is unlikely to happen to everyday users there is a small chance that a hacker will spoof your address and cause you problems. This sort of suspension is temporary and will reset itself automatically in a short time. No action is required on your part.
